Cambridge Community House (CCH) was established nearly 40 years ago by the Cambridge community, for the community, as a response to immediate local needs. Today, CCH continues to support the people of Cambridge in making positive life changes through essential services such as counseling, financial mentoring, and whānau support. Guided by the values of quality service, ethical practice, inclusiveness, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, CCH aims to foster a resilient, connected Cambridge where everyone feels valued and supported.

The Partnership with Leisurecom
Leisurecom was a natural choice for CCH’s new Whānau Whare. Known for their quality product and local reputation, Leisurecom’s modular solutions aligned perfectly with CCH’s values. Supporting local businesses is crucial to us at CCH, as we believe in the shared goal of building a stronger, more connected community. Our positive relationship with Robb Marston made Leisurecom a seamless partner for this project, and we wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.

A Smooth Project Experience with Leisurecom Homes
Working with the Leisurecom team was fantastic from start to finish. We loved watching the building take shape, with every detail crafted with pride. The team’s professionalism, dedication, and genuine investment in the project were evident. A highlight was visiting the whare on-site as it progressed, culminating in an early morning arrival where the moving team expertly placed it on our grounds. Leisurecom also did an excellent job connecting the decking between our three buildings, creating a cohesive, welcoming space for visiting whānau.

Enhanced Facilities, Enhanced Support
Previously, our Whānau Support Team of five shared a single medium-sized room, often needing to make do with limited space. Now, the new Whānau Whare provides a beautiful, safe, purpose-built space for hui, with an open-plan area, two meeting rooms, and a private office for our team leader, Jamie Kerr. This thoughtfully designed layout also accommodates external agencies, enabling us to offer more comprehensive, wrap-around support to the community.

What’s Next for Cambridge Community House?
We have several exciting initiatives in the lead-up to Christmas!
Movember Brekkie Event (Nov 29): In collaboration with ITM, we’re hosting the “Brekkie with Ya Workmates” Movember event. This community breakfast has grown since last year and receives strong support from local businesses. At CCH, we’re dedicated to promoting men’s mental health, and this event is a perfect opportunity to raise awareness.
I Am Me Program Launch (Nov 29): Our Violence-Free Waipa Coordinator is launching the "I Am Me" program, focused on supporting women who have experienced family harm, fostering resilience, empowerment, and renewed self-worth.
Christmas Cheer Initiative: As part of the Cambridge Committee of Social Services (CCOSS), we’re participating in the Christmas Cheer initiative, bringing a little extra joy to local whānau in need of support and aroha this season.
With Leisurecom’s help, we’re better equipped than ever to serve Cambridge and look forward to a bright future together.
